First held in summer 2019, the inaugual annual event was organized by local Sudburian Takako Shoji Boyle. She was inspired to begin this annual tradition to bring more Japanese culture to Sudbury, observing growing interest by the local community and her own children.
The fifth festival will return to Sudbury on July 19th 2025 to continue sharing and celebrating Japanese art, food, and culture! Japan Festival Sudbury is proud to feature, traditional performances and activities such as Taiko Drums, Odori, Yosakoi & Lion Danccs. There will also be martial arts, food vendors, Japanese products as well as kid's activities to round out a fun-filled day for Sudburians to enjoy.
